Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a bizarre partnership that defies traditional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Uncovered
According to the formal release, "An unusual meeting leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous changes echo through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine cult.
The questline focuses on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Transformations
The preview highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Material
Players who finish the adventure will acquire an special katana together with multiple items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Update
This release also introduces the game's newest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Partnerships
This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
